IL HB2100

Abolishes the State Charter School Commission effective July 1, 2020, transferring all powers, duties, assets, liabilities, contracts, and records to the State Board of Education.

Establishes the State Board as the successor agency to the Commission and requires references to the Commission in statutes and rules to be deemed references to the State Board.

Authorizes the State Board to charge charter schools it authorizes a fee not to exceed 3% of school revenue to cover authorizing activities including application review, oversight, monitoring, and staff training.

Transfers all money in the State Charter School Commission Fund to the State Board of Education Special Purpose Trust Fund on July 1, 2020.

Replaces Commission-related language throughout charter school law provisions with references to the State Board while maintaining existing charter authorization, renewal, revocation, and closure procedures.
