IL HB2207

Prohibits units of local government with taxing authority and public officials from using public resources or funds to obstruct, fight, or challenge initiatives to consolidate, merge, or eliminate any unit of local government.

Withholds all State moneys from violating local governments until the obstruction or challenge is concluded, including funds from the County and Mass Transit District Fund, Local Government Distributive Fund, Local Government Tax Fund, State and Local Sales Tax Reform Fund, and personal property replacement tax revenues.

Exempts violations of this provision from the Class 4 felony penalties and office vacancy provisions that apply to other violations of the Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act.
