HB2212 Summary

• Amends the Property Tax Code to require county clerks to abate property taxes on properties within neighborhood associations that maintain roads or sidewalks serving those properties, effective starting in levy year 2019.

• The abatement amount shall equal the property taxes levied by the unit of local government specifically for the purpose of maintaining roads or sidewalks on that property.

• Applies to all property included in qualifying neighborhood associations regardless of other provisions of law.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
