Amends the School Code to require every public elementary school to include at least one semester of civics education in grades 6, 7, or 8, beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.

Civics course content shall focus on government institutions, current and societal issues, service learning, and simulations of the democratic process.

Civics education must comply with Illinois Learning Standards for social science.

School districts may consult with civics education stakeholders approved by the State Board of Education when developing civics curriculum.

School districts may utilize private funding to support civics education offerings.
