IL HB2347

Amends the definition of "emergency medical condition" in the Managed Care Reform and Patient Rights Act to include specified medical conditions regardless of the final diagnosis given, and clarifies that acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) qualify as emergencies based on what a prudent layperson would expect.

Extends emergency services coverage requirements and provisions to the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971, Counties Code, Illinois Municipal Code, School Code, and Illinois Public Aid Code.

Requires compliance with Section 65 of the Managed Care Reform and Patient Rights Act across multiple insurance programs including state employee health benefits, county self-insured plans, municipal self-insured plans, school employee insurance, and medical assistance programs.

Adds reference to Illinois Insurance Code Section 356z.32 to the list of required health benefit coverages for state employees, counties, municipalities, schools, and medical assistance recipients.
