IL HB2430

Amends the Property Tax Code to increase the maximum senior citizens homestead exemption to $8,000 in all counties for taxable years 2019 and thereafter.

Previously, the maximum exemption was $8,000 in counties with 3,000,000 or more inhabitants and $5,000 in all other counties for taxable years 2017-2018.

The uniformity of the $8,000 maximum exemption across all counties applies to property occupied as a residence by persons 65 years of age or older who are liable for real estate taxes.

Effective immediately upon becoming law.
