IL HB2497

Amends the Criminal and Traffic Assessment Act by modifying Section 10-5 regarding fund management and distribution of court-collected money.

Allows county treasurers to create optional funds (Court Automation Fund, Document Storage Fund, State's Attorney Records Automation Fund, Public Defender Records Automation Fund, Circuit Court Clerk Electronic Citation Fund, Child Advocacy Center Fund) and deposit money into the general county fund if a program is not established.

Establishes a new Court Appointed Special Advocates Fund in counties where Court Appointed Special Advocates provide services, with county board grants supporting their activities and services.

Specifies that in counties with populations over 3,000,000, money remitted to the county treasurer and amounts retained by the Circuit Court Clerk are subject to appropriation by the county board.

Takes effect July 1, 2019.
