Amends Section 17-116 of the Illinois Pension Code to clarify that service retirement pensions begin on the effective date of resignation or termination "as reflected in the records of the Employer" rather than other dates.

Updates references in Section 17-116 to specify that provisions apply to members who first become members after July 29, 2016 (the effective date of Public Act 99-702).

Amends Section 17-125 to replace gender-specific pronouns ("his," "he," "him") with gender-neutral language ("the member," "a member").

Removes references to "cancellation of teaching certificate" from Section 17-125, replacing them with the term "termination" for consistency.

Clarifies in Section 17-125 that members requesting refunds must execute "a written acknowledgment of forfeiture of all service credit and rights to pension payments" to the Board.
