IL HB2782

Amends the Boat Registration and Safety Act to allow motorboat operators to tow persons on water skis, aquaplanes, or similar devices with only one competent person aboard if the motorboat is equipped with wide-angle mirrors, as an alternative to requiring at least two competent persons.

Maintains existing capacity requirement that motorboats used for towing must have a capacity of at least 3 persons.

Preserves existing prohibitions on towing activities between one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise, except for authorized water ski tournaments with adequate lighting.

Retains requirements that operators maintain careful and prudent operation, keep reasonable distance from persons and property, and display a bright orange flag (12 inches per side) while towing is in progress.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
