Existing medical fee schedules under the Workers' Compensation Act become inoperative after August 31, 2020.

Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission must establish new fee schedules effective September 1, 2020, using Medicare maximum fees as a benchmark with adjustments based on Medicare percentage amounts (ranging from 125% to 300% of Medicare rates depending on the percentage tier).

New fee schedules will use 4 non-hospital geographic regions and 14 hospital geographic regions based on county groupings rather than the previous geozip system.

Commission must adjust workers' compensation maximum fees annually starting September 1, 2021, by half the Consumer Price Index-U increase.

Any person may petition the Commission if a fee schedule maximum creates significant limitation on access to quality health care in a specific field or geographic area, with the Commission required to rule within 180 days.
