IL HB2841

Adds mayors and presidents of cities, villages, and incorporated towns to the list of officials authorized to solemnize marriages in Illinois, provided they are in office on the date of solemnization.

Prohibits mayors and presidents from receiving compensation for solemnizing marriages.

Protects religious denominations, Indian Nations or Tribes, Native Groups, and their clergy or officiants from being required to solemnize any marriage, with immunity from civil, administrative, or criminal penalties for refusal.

Exempts religious organizations from providing their facilities for marriage solemnization ceremonies that violate their religious beliefs, with immunity from legal action based on such refusal.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
