IL HB2913

Establishes a minimum annual salary of $175,000 for district superintendents in elementary school districts designated by the State Board of Education as having a teacher shortage, effective beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.

Allows elementary school districts to provide superintendents salaries exceeding $175,000 only with voter approval through referendum.

Requires referendum questions to be submitted to electors at a regular election and approved by a majority of voters on the ballot measure.

Prohibits school districts from proposing another referendum on superintendent salary if the previous referendum fails, with a mandatory 2-year waiting period before resubmission.

Applies only to employment contracts for district superintendents entered into, modified, or renewed on or after the effective date of this amendatory act.
