IL HB2943

Amends the Motor Fuel Tax Law to add a new subsection (4.5) effective July 1, 2019, requiring the Environmental Protection Agency to fund vehicle emissions inspection administration from the Motor Fuel Tax Fund subject to appropriation.

Requires the State Comptroller to transfer any balance exceeding $2,000,000 remaining in the Vehicle Inspection Fund back to the Motor Fuel Tax Fund by December 31 of each year, beginning in 2019.

Maintains existing motor fuel tax allocations for state construction, boating, grade crossing protection, municipalities, counties, and road districts.

Preserves Department of Revenue administration costs, Department of Transportation supervisory costs, refunds, and International Fuel Tax Agreement payments from motor fuel tax revenues.
