IL HB3001

Amends the Local Records Act to require arrest information be made available to news media for inspection and copying as soon as practicable after an individual's arraignment under Article 113 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963.

Removes the previous 72-hour maximum timeframe requirement for making arrest records available to the news media.

Requires disclosure of arrestee identification (name, age, address, photograph), charges, arrest time and location, arresting agency name, bail/bond amounts, and custody status information.

Allows withholding of certain information if disclosure would interfere with law enforcement proceedings, endanger safety of law enforcement or other persons, or compromise correctional facility security.

Limits fees charged by law enforcement agencies for arrest records to actual copying and reproduction costs, excluding labor costs.
