HB3017: Veterans Cyber Academy Pilot Program Act

• Department of Veterans' Affairs shall establish and operate a pilot program providing Illinois veterans with cybersecurity training, certifications, apprenticeships, and job placement resources from January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2023.

• Department must establish relevant courses culminating in industry-recognized certifications and create a registry of available cybersecurity jobs throughout the state.

• Department shall develop partnerships with government agencies and private sector organizations to provide education, training, and apprenticeship opportunities to participating veterans.

• Department must adopt rules covering veteran eligibility and selection, partner organization criteria, prerequisite coursework, certification requirements, and other necessary standards.

• Department shall collect enrollment and completion data, track 60/90/120-day employment outcomes, and deliver a final report to the Governor and General Assembly within 180 days of program completion with recommendations for permanent implementation.
