IL HB3067

Creates the Ultrasound Opportunity Act requiring abortion facilities to offer women seeking abortions after 8 weeks of gestation an opportunity to receive and view an active ultrasound of the unborn child before any abortion procedure or anesthesia is administered.

Ultrasound must be performed by a qualified person with documented training in ultrasound equipment operation and must meet standard medical practice quality standards.

Facilities must document the woman's informed decision to accept or decline the ultrasound offer, including the date, time, and the woman's signature.

Requirements do not apply when a physician determines in good faith medical judgment that a medical emergency exists necessitating immediate abortion to avert death or serious risk of substantial and irreversible impairment of major bodily function.

Facilities may provide ultrasounds at their own location or refer women to local ultrasound providers listed by the facility.
