IL HB3137

Amends the Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act to prohibit mayors, aldermen, village presidents, and board of trustees members from accepting appointed positions or compensated employment from the mayor or village president during their term of office without resigning or obtaining a leave of absence.

Exempts volunteer firefighter service and compensation from the prohibition on holding other positions.

Permits aldermen to serve as commissioners of the Beardstown Regional Flood Prevention District board without restriction.

Allows elected municipal officials to hold elected office in other local government units as long as no contractual relationship exists between the municipalities involved.

Voids any appointments made in violation of these restrictions.
