IL HB3144

Requires school districts to allow parents or guardians of twins or higher order multiples to request same-classroom or separate-classroom placement if children are in the same grade level at the same school.

Parents must request classroom placement upon school registration for the upcoming school year or at the time of registration if transferring mid-year.

School principal may request a meeting with parents to recommend placement; if disagreement persists after meeting, principal may request a school board hearing for final determination.

If principal does not request a meeting or hearing, the school must provide the classroom placement requested by the parent or guardian.

After school year begins, principal may request a board hearing to change placement if determined to be disruptive or academically, behaviorally, or mentally not beneficial to the children; parents must receive at least 10 days written notice before such hearing.
