IL HB3149

Amends the Sanitary District Act of 1936 to prohibit sanitary district boards of trustees from providing group life, health, accident, hospital, and medical insurance benefits to trustees effective January 1, 2020.

Allows boards of trustees to continue providing insurance benefits to employees only, with the option to have the sanitary district pay premiums or allow employees to pay through payroll deductions.

Permits insurance plans to include coverage for employees who rely on prayer or spiritual healing in accordance with recognized religious denominations.

Requires any group insurance obtained to be from companies authorized to do business in Illinois or similar organizations offering comparable coverage.

Takes effect January 1, 2020.
