IL HB3205

Prohibits the University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, and all other public universities in Illinois from requiring students to submit letters explaining why their parent or guardian is not employed, does not file taxes, or lacks a federal Individual Taxpayer Identification Number as part of financial aid verification.

Extends the same prohibition to all Illinois public community college districts, preventing them from requiring such explanatory letters during financial aid verification processes.

Applies uniformly to eight public universities: University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, and Northern Illinois University.

Removes a financial aid verification requirement that could disproportionately affect students from families with undocumented members or those not participating in traditional tax filing systems.
