IL HB3255

Amends the School Code to exempt contracts for purchasing commodities with prices affected by trading on U.S. commodities exchanges from the lowest responsible bidder requirement, including gasoline, diesel, and natural gas.

Removes the previous restriction that limited this exemption to natural gas purchases only when the cost was less than that offered by a public utility.

Applies to school district contracts for supplies, materials, or work exceeding $25,000 or a lower amount as set by school board policy.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
