HB3322 Summary

• Amends the School Code to allow retired educators with a Professional Educator License who have been issued a criminal history check certificate by one regional superintendent to present that certificate to another regional superintendent without requiring repeat background checks.

• The receiving regional superintendent must issue its own certificate to the substitute teacher based on the previously issued certificate, exempting them from additional criminal history records checks, Statewide Sex Offender Database checks, or Statewide Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Database checks.

• Applies only to substitute teachers who are retired educators seeking employment in a different educational service region than where their initial certificate was issued.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
