IL HB3363

Requires all school districts to employ a superintendent to oversee school administration under the board of education's direction.

Allows large school districts meeting specific criteria (boundaries in 3 counties with one county exceeding 1,000,000 population, enrollment over 35,000 students, and licensed assistant superintendents in key areas) to appoint a chief executive officer as superintendent instead, who must hold a master's degree and have 5+ years of district administrative experience.

Chief executive officers serving as superintendents are exempt from licensing requirements under Section 21B-15 for 5 years.

Superintendents must notify the State Board of Education, board, and school administrators when district employees are named perpetrators in indicated child abuse or neglect reports under the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.

Superintendents must annually report to the State Board of Education the number of high school students enrolled in accredited community college courses that earn high school credit.
