Amends the Illinois School Code to expand the definition of valid absence from school to include mental or behavioral health reasons.

Modifies Section 26-1 to require that temporary absences excused by school principals or teachers must include absences for the mental or behavioral health of the student.

Modifies Section 26-2a to specify that "valid cause" for absence includes illness encompassing the mental or behavioral health of the student.

Applies to truancy definitions, allowing students with mental or behavioral health concerns to have absences counted as valid cause rather than unexcused absences.
