Metra Electric and Rock Island Division fares for trips wholly within Chicago equal Chicago Transit Board rail fares; fares for trips originating or ending outside Chicago set by Commuter Rail Board based on zones.

Commuter Rail Board must accept Ventra cards for payment on Metra Electric and Rock Island Divisions through the Ventra app or stations and adopt periodic ticket-checking policies.

Transfer fees using Ventra cards between Chicago Transit Board, Suburban Bus Board, and Commuter Rail Board Electric/Rock Island Districts equal transfer fares between CTA routes.

Chicago Transit Board installs and maintains Ventra readers at all Electric and Rock Island District stations in locations specified by Commuter Rail Board.

Lost revenue from Commuter Rail Board due to implementing these fare and Ventra requirements excluded from costs when calculating whether fares equal 50% of public transportation operating costs; effective June 1, 2020.
