County board chairpersons or board of county commissioners presidents/chairpersons may request the State's Attorney to ask the Attorney General for written opinions on matters relating to their official duties.

If the State's Attorney does not request an opinion within 30 days of receiving such a request, the county board chairperson or board president/chairperson may request one directly from the Attorney General with approval from a majority of board members.

The Attorney General may furnish written opinions in response to requests from either the State's Attorney or directly from county board leadership when the 30-day threshold is met.

Amends the Attorney General Act to add the provision for county board opinion requests as a new duty of the Attorney General.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
