HB4059 Summary

• Removes the requirement that educator licensure candidates pass a teacher performance assessment as a condition for obtaining an educator license.

• Maintains the requirement that all educator licensure candidates pass a content area knowledge test for each subject area where an applicable test exists.

• Eliminates the teacher performance assessment requirement from the Alternative Educator Licensure Program for Teachers, removing the requirement to pass this assessment before entering the second residency year.

• Keeps all other testing requirements in place, including content area tests and language proficiency tests for bilingual education endorsements.

• Takes effect July 1, 2020.
