• Creates new Defense Superior Service license plates for recipients of the Defense Superior Service Medal from any U.S. armed forces branch who reside in Illinois

• Plates may be issued as standard, vanity, or personalized plates and are available for passenger vehicles (first division), motorcycles, and second division vehicles weighing no more than 8,000 pounds

• Secretary of State has discretion over plate design and color, and must create a motorcycle-appropriate version

• No registration fees, including fees under Section 3-806 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, shall be charged for issuance or renewal of these plates
