Registered employees of private detective agencies must complete 20 hours of basic training within 30 days of employment; training may be classroom-based or online (not on-the-job) and removes requirement for training on terrorism identification.

Registered employees must complete an additional 8 hours of annual training each calendar year based on work-related subjects, conducted in classroom/seminar or online format.

Private detectives must complete 8 hours of annual training on topics of their choosing reasonably related to their practice, using any combination of formal classroom, workshops, seminars, or Internet-based training.

Private security contractors must complete 8 hours of annual training with a minimum of 4 hours in formal classroom settings; remaining 4 hours may be online or through professional journals.

Private detectives and security contractors must maintain personal training logs with documentation for at least 5 years; no more than 8 hours of annual training required regardless of multiple licenses held.
