Teachers in contractual continued service must be evaluated at least once every 2 or 3 school years, with more frequent evaluations required for those rated "needs improvement" or "unsatisfactory."

Teachers not in contractual continued service must be evaluated at least once every school year.

By September 1, 2021, school districts must establish evaluation plans allowing teachers rated "excellent" or "proficient" to be evaluated once every 3 school years and informally evaluated once every 2 school years.

Evaluation plans must include classroom observations, consideration of student growth as a significant factor, and rating teachers as "excellent," "proficient," "needs improvement," or "unsatisfactory."

Teachers rated "unsatisfactory" must receive a remediation plan with 90 school days of classroom remediation (unless a collective bargaining agreement provides shorter duration) and participation by a consulting teacher with at least 5 years of experience and an "excellent" rating.
