HB4526 Summary

• Eliminates the requirement that employees of Illinois colleges or universities must have worked for an aggregate of 7 years to qualify their children for 50% undergraduate tuition waivers.

• Requires that employees be actively employed by an Illinois college or university at the time of their child's enrollment for the child to be eligible for the tuition waiver.

• Requires employees to continue employment throughout their child's enrollment period to maintain the child's waiver eligibility, or until the child has used 4 years of undergraduate partial tuition waiver benefits.

• Applies to nine Illinois public universities: University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois University.
