Public colleges and universities must use best efforts to hire a veteran of the United States armed forces as the Coordinator of Veterans and Military Personnel Student Services.

The Coordinator must create and maintain a contact list of all veterans attending the institution and may communicate with veterans via email or other electronic means.

Institutions with more than 1,000 full-time students must appoint or hire a Coordinator within 6 months to serve as an ombudsperson and advocate for student veterans and military personnel.

Public colleges and universities must conduct a survey within 60 days of enactment documenting all veteran services and programs available, with results posted online and submitted to the Board of Higher Education, Department of Veterans' Affairs, Governor, and legislative leaders.

Institutions must make best efforts to create academic and social programs for veterans, expand online curricula to serve student veterans and deployed military personnel, and regularly advertise the Coordinator's office location and contact information.
