HB4779 Summary

• Establishes the Illiana Task Force consisting of 24 police officers appointed by the Director of the Illinois State Police, with members selecting a chairperson from among themselves.

• Task Force members receive no compensation but are reimbursed for necessary expenses from General Assembly appropriations.

• Task Force shall meet at least monthly to study ways to reduce firearm violence in local communities and recommend legislative solutions to the Governor and General Assembly.

• Task Force must submit annual reports by December 31 each year and a final report 5 years after creation.

• Task Force dissolves 6 years after creation; the Act is repealed on January 1, 2027.
