HB4973 Summary: Human Resources Employee Safety and Privacy Act

• Creates the Human Resources Employee Safety and Privacy Act to protect personal information of HR employees with authority to hire/fire at nonpublic employers through written request procedures.

• Requires government agencies to remove and not publicly post HR employees' personal information within 5 business days of receiving a written request, with exemption from Freedom of Information Act disclosure.

• Prohibits persons, businesses, and associations from posting HR employees' personal information on the Internet within 72 hours of written request and bars transfer of such information to third parties.

• Establishes Class 3 felony for knowingly posting HR employee personal information online that poses imminent and serious threat to health/safety and results in bodily injury or death.

• Allows HR employees to list business address instead of home address on identification cards, driver's licenses, vehicle registrations, and election documents.
