HB5085 - EMS Background Checks

• Requires EMS license applicants and renewals to submit fingerprints to the Illinois State Police in electronic format via live scan vendor.

• Fingerprints must be checked against Illinois State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal history databases, including civil, criminal, and latent print records.

• Illinois State Police charges applicants a fee for the criminal history records check, not to exceed actual cost, deposited in the State Police Services Fund.

• Illinois State Police furnishes applicant's Illinois conviction records and forwards national criminal history information to the Department of Public Health.

• Incomplete applications or non-compliant applications may be denied; Department may adopt rules regarding disqualifying conditions and implementation.

• Effective January 1, 2021.
