HB5328 Summary

• Amends Illinois Vehicle Code Section 6-306.5 to require municipalities and counties to notify the Secretary of State within 30 days when a person pays a previously reported unpaid fine or penalty for traffic violations.

• Requires notification within 30 days when a person enters into a payment plan that the municipality or county has agreed to honor in exchange for terminating the driving privilege suspension.

• Requires notification within 30 days if the municipality or county determines the original suspension report was made in error.

• Removes the requirement for 10 or more standing, parking, or compliance violations to trigger suspension and instead requires only 5 or more automated speed enforcement system or automated traffic law violations in combination.
