Utilities with more than 70% Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) deployment must file an accelerated switching tariff with the Illinois Commerce Commission by December 31, 2020

The tariff must allow customers to enroll with or switch between alternative retail electric suppliers and the utility within 15 days of the utility receiving the switch request

Utilities must implement the tariff within 30 days of Commission approval, unless a longer deadline is approved to build necessary back office or technology systems

Utilities may limit the number of supplier switches within the same billing cycle, but must allow customers to switch to at least 2 different suppliers per billing cycle

All costs for implementing the accelerated switching tariff are recoverable by the utility through an increase to the Smart Grid Advanced Metering Infrastructure cost recovery mechanism
