School boards must make the reasoning for early termination of a district superintendent or chief executive officer's employment contract available to the public before entering into a termination agreement.

Early employment contract termination agreements with superintendents or chief executive officers are prohibited from including confidentiality or non-disclosure clauses.

School boards may enter into early employment contract termination agreements with superintendents or chief executive officers who have existing contracts, subject to the public disclosure requirements.

The bill amends Sections 10-21.4 and 10-23.8 of the Illinois School Code and takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
