HB5511 Summary

• Amends the Fire Sprinkler Contractor Licensing Act to allow designated certified persons to be trained by fire pump equipment manufacturers and deemed fire pump manufacturer's authorized representatives.

• Defines "fire pump manufacturer's authorized representative" as a person certified by a fire pump equipment manufacturer who performs inspection, testing, and maintenance on fire pump systems including pumps, drivers, controllers, and related components.

• Allows individuals performing inspection and testing duties to be certified by a nationally recognized fire pump manufacturer as an alternative to NICET Level II/III certification or apprenticeship completion.

• Expands continuing education requirements to include fire pump equipment manufacturers as approved providers of continuing education courses for licensees.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
