HB5563 Summary

• Amends the Probation and Probation Officers Act to require the Division of Probation Services to reimburse counties for 100% of salaries for all probation officer and supervisor positions approved to support pretrial services programs and specialty court programs.

• For remaining probation officer positions in basic services and programs approved before December 1, 2019, establishes a reimbursement schedule of $1,500 per month beginning July 1, 2021, plus an additional $500 per month each July 1st thereafter until reaching 100% salary reimbursement.

• Maintains existing reimbursement provisions for chief managing officers (100% of salary) and secure detention and group home personnel approved after December 1, 1990 (100% of salary).

• Requires the State of Illinois to cover costs for Division of Probation Services personnel, travel, equipment, telecommunications, and other operational expenses.
