Creates the Illinois Media Literacy Task Force to assess media habits of Illinois youth and identify media's influence on their mental, emotional, and physical health

Task Force charged with identifying key factors for building media literacy competency in K-12 students and reviewing existing curricula and legislation from other states

Membership includes 10 members: the Governor or designee (serving as Chair), State Superintendent of Education or designee, two House members, two Senate members, and four Governor-appointed residents with expertise in curriculum development, media literacy research, pediatrics, and policy advocacy

Task Force members serve without compensation, must hold four scheduled meetings, and are subject to Illinois Freedom of Information Act and Open Meetings Act requirements

Illinois State Board of Education provides administrative support; final report due to Governor and General Assembly by December 31, 2019, after which the Task Force dissolves
