Sisters of the Resurrection were founded by four Polish women in Rome, Italy in 1891 and arrived in Chicago in 1900 to serve vulnerable communities in Northwest Chicago.

Sister Ann Strzelecka purchased land in 1912 that became home to both Resurrection High School and Resurrection Medical Center.

The Sisters provided education, healthcare, and community outreach to vulnerable populations throughout Northwest Chicago for 119 years, inspiring others to enter caregiving professions.

April 22, 2019 is declared Sisters of Resurrection Day in Illinois to honor their legacy and commitment to healthcare and education for vulnerable communities.
