Declares May 2019 as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in Illinois to honor these communities and their contributions to the state and nation.

Recognizes Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders as one of the fastest growing ethnic groups in Illinois, comprising more than 5% of the state population with over 40% growth between 2000 and 2010.

Highlights significant historical dates in May relevant to Asian American history, including May 7, 1843 (first Japanese immigrant arrival), May 10, 1869 (Transcontinental Railroad completion with Chinese immigrant labor), and May 6, 1882 (Chinese Exclusion Act passage).

Acknowledges the heroic contributions and sacrifices of Asian Americans, including the 442nd Infantry Regiment of Japanese Americans in World War II and notable leaders such as Dalip Singh Saund, Fred T. Korematsu, and Patsy Mink.

Welcomes community organizations and people of all backgrounds to participate in Asian American Action Day on May 15, 2019, at the Illinois Capitol to advocate for more inclusive legislation.
