HJR0104 - Charter Schools Task Force

• Creates a 17-member Task Force on Charter Public School Facilities to examine issues affecting charter schools, including aging infrastructure, inadequate special education space, and insufficient athletic and dining facilities.

• Task Force shall analyze current capital funding provisions in Illinois Charter Schools Law, conduct comparative analysis of charter funding across the United States, and recommend changes to ensure equitable access to safe facilities.

• Membership includes representatives from legislative leadership (8 members), State Superintendent of Education, school district CEO, teachers' organizations, charter school operators, business community, education advocates, and community development financial institutions.

• Task Force members elect their own chairperson and receive administrative support from the Illinois State Board of Education; members serve without compensation.

• Task Force shall issue recommendations and report to relevant state officials by January 1, 2021, after which the task force is dissolved.
