Urges citizens of the Cahokia Mounds region to support the Cahokia Mounds Mississippian Culture Initiative led by Heartlands Conservancy, the Governor of Illinois, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Calls on the U.S. Congress to elevate the national status of Cahokia Mounds and thematically-connected mound complexes by creating a non-contiguous Cahokia Mounds Mississippian Cultural National Historical Park.

Requests the President of the United States exercise authority under the Antiquities Act of 1906 to designate Cahokia Mounds as a National Monument while Congress considers legislation creating the national historical park in partnership with Illinois.

Recognizes Cahokia Mounds (covering 3,950 acres and dating from 800-1350 AD) as the largest pre-Columbian archaeological site north of Mexico and the most significant example of Mississippian Culture civilization in North America.

Directs delivery of the resolution to the Governor of Illinois, Illinois General Assembly, Illinois Congressional Delegation, National Park Service Director, Secretary of the Interior, and the President.
