Designates April 2020 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Illinois

Notes that 34,561 child abuse and neglect cases were indicted in Illinois in 2018, with an estimated 1,720 child deaths from abuse or neglect nationally in 2017

Recognizes that more than 100,000 cases of abuse go unreported annually and that abuse causes emotional, psychological, and physical trauma to affected children

Acknowledges that effective prevention requires partnerships between courts, social service agencies, schools, law enforcement, businesses, and communities

Aligns Illinois with the federal tradition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, which Congress designated in 1982 and President Ronald Reagan proclaimed annually starting in 1983
