The Illinois House of Representatives mourns the death of James "Jim" Addington of Westmont, who passed away on July 18, 2020.

Jim Addington was a resident of Westmont for over 50 years and served in numerous civic leadership roles, including Lions Club president and district governor, Habitat for Humanity board member, village trustee, and mayor.

He organized major community events including the Taste of Westmont, Red White and BBQ, Pow Wow Days, and Santa Claus for Holly Days, and oversaw downtown development projects including Westmont Centre, the Fountain, and Westmont Main Street.

Addington was known as a mentor and friend to thousands of community leaders and demonstrated unwavering dedication to his community, including attending a village trustee meeting from his hospital room shortly before his passing.

The House extends sincere condolences to his family, including his wife Cathy, children Jimmy and Lisa, and four grandchildren, and directs that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Addington family.
