Congratulates Palos Hills Police Chief Paul J. Madigan on his retirement after over 50 years in law enforcement.

Chief Madigan began his law enforcement career in the late 1960s as a railroad detective and joined the Palos Hills Police Department in October 1971, serving in every position and becoming chief in 1993.

He formed one of the first regional SWAT teams in the southwest suburbs in 2002 and completed a three-year assignment with a regional undercover narcotics task force.

Retired from the United States Army and Army Reserve after over 30 years of service, including deployment to Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm for which he received the Bronze Star and humanitarian missions to Egypt, Nigeria, South America, and Central America.

Currently serves as president of Southwest Central Dispatch and Southwest Central Regional 9-1-1 executive committee and chairman of the board of directors of the PLOWS Council on Aging.
