Married Ralph Ten Bruin on May 24, 1941 for 21 years until his death in 1962 in an automobile accident; had two sons, Wayne (born 1946) and Dean (born 1948)

Held multiple careers including apartment building management, bed and breakfast operation in Colorado, nursing home assistant, retail positions, and maintained an independent life in her Belvidere home until a fall in 2019

Family planned a 100th birthday celebration on October 24, 2020, but held a through-the-window celebration instead due to the COVID-19 pandemic; a suitable copy of the resolution to be presented to her
