Commends Earnest "Ernie" Broadnax for his commitment to the Elgin community as an educator and historian.

Recognizes Broadnax's career serving youth through after-school programs and correctional facilities, mentoring orphaned, abandoned, and abused children since 1967.

Honors his executive production of the documentary "Project 2-3-1: A Story of Elgin's African American Heritage" (2015), which was distributed to all 844 public and academic libraries in Illinois and received multiple awards including the American Association of State and Local History Award of Merit.

Acknowledges his work as originator and narrator of the trolley car tour of Elgin's historic African American neighborhood and his membership in local organizations including the Elgin Housing Group and New Hope Baptist Church.

Directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to Broadnax as an expression of esteem and respect.
